Honestly, I don’t know where to begin. I am simply… UNDONE by the events of today’s tour of the city of Galilee, the city of Capernaum the Mount of Beatitudes and the synagogue of Mary Magdalene?
Both Greg and I were moved to tears throughout our journey today. We began our journey at Capernaum, the city of Jesus, where we were able to visit the home of Saint Peter the ROCK. His home is shaped like an octagon and the center of the house is framed by stones that form a circle. I suppose I never really thought about what the apostles homes actually we’re REALLY like. But today it was made very clear, that the apostles and the people of their day lived very very simply. Houses were typically made of stacked stones from the mountainside with straw floors and wooden roofs. I am humbled thinking of the luxury most people enjoy today. Wow! I will never complain about laminate flooring again! ?
Messianic Jew Rabbi Jonathan Cahn then shared a beautiful message this morning, in the Jewish synagogue in Capernaum, built of limestone.
Rabbi Cahn spoke to us about Jesus bringing “healing in his wings”:
Malachi 4:2 (KJV)
But unto you that fear my name shall the Son of righteousness arise with healing in his wings, and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
The word “wings” actually refers to the hem of the garment of Jesus’ robe. What a beautiful teaching! If you would like to know more, look up “Healing in his wings”, by Jonathan Cahn on you Tube.
Next, we visited the site of the newly discovered synagogue of Mary Magdalene located in Galilee. I was blessed with an invitation to read Isaiah 61:1-3 while standing holdings my Bible overtop an ancient base of carved limestone which once was used to hold the Torah from which the Rabbi’s read from in the ancient synagogues. It is very likely Jesus himself may have once stood in that very place reading from scripture at that very same limestone pedestal!!! The thought of it simply blows my mind!!! ??? of course
Jesus’ reading of Isaiah 61 occurred in A synagogue in Nazareth.
Next stop: the museum in Galilee we were able to see the ancient 2000 plus-year-old boat that was excavated in the late 1980’s! This is the exact kind of fishing boat Jesus would have sailed in with the disciples. Wow!!!
After that, we visited a restaurant along the shore of the Sea of Galilee and ate Tilapia–served as Jesus and the disciples would’ve enjoyed it in their day! I was a little grossed out! ? LOL See the picture!
For those of you who know me well, and know how much I love the teaching on “vessels of mercy” from Rom 9:23–you will appreciate this photo I took of a large clay pot just outside the synagogue of Mary Magdalene! ❤️✝️
The day wrapped up with a message from Jonathan Cahn at a synagogue in the hills of Galilee overlooking the Sea. This location is where the tribes of Zebulon and Naphtali once dwelled–which is also very personal to me!!! Hallelujah!!
Here we took communion, worshipped and learned about the significance of “I Am” and the names of God and what those names reveal to us about our undeniable connection to YAHWEH. Hallelujah!!! Greg and I were both blessed to spontaneously lead worship alongside Rabbi Cahn, singing “What a Beautiful Name”. So incredible!!! I will NEVER forget that moment with the Lord!! My Adonai!!!
Are you ready to visit the Holy Land yet? I am already trying to figure out when I can return…❤️❤️❤️ So in love with Israel!!!
Grace and Peace,
