Writing For Jesus: Day 9

Writing For Jesus: Day 9

But He himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.
Luke 5:16

“Slip away to the wilderness”–what an interesting choice of words. It doesn’t read, “break away into the wilderness” or “run away into the wilderness” or flee away into the wilderness”. The phrase used in this NASB version is

“slip away into the wilderness”.

Why “slip”? When I hear the word “slip” I think of sliding or falling. But it occurred to me as I pondered this word choice that it may rather in this context, imply that Jesus was being discrete or unnoticed, by choice. The previous  verse reads:

Luke 5:15:

But the news about Him (Jesus) was spreading even farther, and great multitudes were gathering to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses.

V 16 But He himself would OFTEN slip away to the wilderness and pray.

I just love that!! Even though his fame was growing and people were gathering–and not just a few–but MULTITUDES, and yet, Jesus knew he needed to put first things first and “slip away into the wilderness and PRAY.”

Instead of staying with the crowds and receiving their love, honor and praise, Jesus sought solitude in the wilderness to enter into the holy realm of prayer and give his Father the glory, honor and praise as he worshipped The Father in prayer! Praise the Lord!???

WOW!

Now that’s what having your priorities in order looks like!!

So what about you? Is the pace of life moving so fast and furious that the thought of taking a few minutes to pray feels like a burden?

On the other hand, have you ever OFTEN prayed and worshipped until you could FEEL the power, love and grace of God resting upon you?  GLORY to GOD!

Prayer is a mighty and holy privilege! Decide today to “slip away into the wilderness to pray! Do this OFTEN–or DAILY!

You may need to make some life adjustments in your schedule to make time to pray and worship the Lord, but doing so will be the best decision you ever made, because when we pray we are entering the gate to our Father’s presence where the power of God can be released through the Holy Spirit in the mighty Name of Jesus! Amen! More than ever, we need this kind of life transforming powerful prayer in order to RELEASE  God’s FAVOR and blessing over broken lives in Jesus Name!!

Slip away with Jesus in prayer today!!

On a personal note–the image attached to this devotional is special to me; it’s the entrance to a mountain property my husband Greg and I have purchased for a new Retreat center for Be Free Ministry!

Over the last 5 years, the Lord has called me into the wilderness one weekend at a time to “slip away with him” and  in doing a ministry was birthed, and miracles, healing, transformation, deliverance and breakthrough have occurred!! Glory to God! ???

I walk this wilderness property OFTEN  and pray and worship our Lord Jesus in prayer, fully believing for a mighty revival to unfold in this holy, place set apart for a holy purpose in Jesus Name!???

Come slip away into the wilderness WITH Jesus and pray! Breakthrough, victory, healing and deliverance will come to pass in Jesus Name! ???

Victoriously Free,

Ashley ?
