Jesus Revolution: Keeping It Simple

Jesus Revolution: Keeping It Simple

Why does man over complicate  the pure milk of the gospel? I believe the answer is summed up in the verse found in Matt 18:3 “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the Kingdom of heaven.

Let’s look deeper at the cross references coming from this verse from the KJV year 1611 Bible:

Psalm 131:2

…my soul is even as a weaned child (Matt 18:3)

Mark 10:15

Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

Luke 18:16

But Jesus called unto him, and said, suffer (allow) little children to come unto me, and forget them not: for of such is the Kingdom of God. Matt 18:3; 1 Pet 2:2

1 Pet 2:2

As newborn babies, desire the sincere (pure) milk of the word, that he may grow there by. 1 Cor 3:2; Heb 5:12

1 Cor 3:2

I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hither to you were not able to bear it, neither yet now are you able.

Why would God say this to us in his word? Why would we be taught milk—or the pure gospel,  and then be told we are not able to bear it; in other words, that we would not be able to understand it? I believe the answer is summed up in one word: FAITH.

Heb 5:12

For when for the time he ought to be teachers, do you have need that one teach YOU again which should be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are becomes such as have need of milk, and not a strong meat.

Until we truly become rooted in our faith in the truth of the pure milk of the Gospel: that we are saved by faith through grace apart from works, we can become distracted by diverse doctrines and teachings that are not profitable for developing true faith.

This is why Jesus commands us to become as little children—little children who receive milk from their mother until they are strong enough to be weaned! We must keep things simple in our hearts and minds to receive the simple truth of the pure gospel of Jesus Christ and trust that he loves us and that we are forgiven and justified by faith through grace, and sealed to God by the Holy Spirit!

Only those who truly TRUST in JESUS by FAITH will be saved!!! (Titus 3:3-7)

The gospel of “meats” can only be digested AFTER we as believers  have come to REST in the TRUTH that salvation is not EARNED by righteousness, or good works, but only by grace through FAITH in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, in which he suffered and died for our sins so that we could BE FREE!

This is the PURE MILK of the gospel that many Bible scholars cannot receive! Yes, there is a time when believers have matured…meaning that they have “kept the faith” in trusting what God’s word tells us regarding the doctrine of  HOW they were saved. Only then are believers “mature” and able to guard their hearts against following “every wind of doctrine”.

The writer of Hebrews said it this way:

But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Isaiah 7:15; Phil 1:9

Isaiah 7:15

Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

Philippians 1:9-11

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more and knowledge and in all judgment: that he may approve things that are excellent; that he may be sincere and without offense until the day of Christ; being filled with the fruit of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, until the glory and praise of God.

Father, help us keep the gospel simple and pure and to trust and believe with a childlike faith! Help us to undertand what it means to find our REST in you Lord, for you say in your word:

I will not leave you as orphans, I will come to you.

John 14:18

In Jesus Name,
Amen.
